It has now been almost a week since I completed my two Fantasy Football drafts for 2011. I remember last Friday at this time I had the nervous butterflies of a kid on Christmas morning as I anxiously anticipated Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Here is how it unfolded... Saturday's draft was for a traditional Yahoo! league where we start QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, K, DEF. I had the #1 pick and took Arian Foster. I felt great about it since he made his preseason debut a few days prior and looked like a monster...that sentiment changed Sunday morning when I found out he had tweaked his hammy again. Awesome.
Having the #1 pick forced me to have to wait a long time until my second and third round picks (#24 & #25). I had done quite a few mock drafts and told myself that if one of the elite QBs (Brady, Brees, Rivers) was there for me, I would jump on it.
Sure enough I had my choice between Tom Brady and Phillip Rivers. Even though I am a Tar Heel, I went with the NC State alum Rivers because I think he is poised to blow up this year. I had to take a #1 WR with my next pick and I chose Miles Austin. I love the fact that Romo is healthy and their chemistry last year before Romo got hurt was awesome. Here is the rest of the roster...at this stage of the season, everyone's team looks good on paper.
QB Rivers, RB Foster, RB, Moreno, WR Austin, WR Harvin, WR L. Evans, TE O. Daniels, DEF NY Jets
I won't bore you (although the non fantasy players might be already) with my bench or the details of my other league. It's pretty intense as we draft Individual Defensive Players. I'm pumped that I was able to pick up Ndamukong Suh. It's going to be fun watching him dominate this season.
